May 13, 1959: About 60 East Texas police chiefs and sheriffs met for a law enforcement conference sponsored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Longview Police Chief Roy Stone, host of the conference, said it was intended to improve the flow of information between city, county, state and federal officers.
